Notes

This version is sung to a baby girl; to sing the song to a male child, one simply changes all the female mi- gender prefixes to the male po- (i.e. powi, powiton, etc.).

The song is generally sung freely, with verses repeated and even mixed around as the singer desires. It can be sung as long as needed, until the goal of a sleeping baby (sometimes as difficult to achieve for the Kadane as for us) is attained.
