Vowels

The vowels are pronounced with "Italian" values. There are also the diphthongs ae (day), ai (try), au (cow), ei (same as ae), oi (toy) and ou (too).

Syllables are of the form C(C)V; all syllables are open. Consonant clusters beyond two consonants and double vowels are not permitted.

Words are accented on the next to last syllable. It should be noted, however, that accent is much less pronounced in Ranamemi than in English, and in some speakers may be said not to exist at all.
